week 12

One thing that really gets me is why so many people are bothered by others' words. I don't mean to some rude or insensitive, but when a stranger is ripping you to shreds over a facebook, twitter, instagram post, why care about it? You can delete, block, and report them, take down their post, take down your post, make a new account that's actually private if it wasn't before, and more. When it's your account, you have the power to act in a way that benefits you. Many posts can get way out of control, which is unfortunate, but it shouldn't ruin your life forever. So on a small scale, you can take several measures to erase people from your circle. On a huge scale, you may have to retreat for a bit. Sometimes it's slightly deserved for an offensive post, usually not though. It's important to filter what you post because other peoples feelings matter like your own. Celebrities are no exception to the attacking or trolling. They tear people, KIDS, apart every day! I've been following along with several of the March for Our Lives activists and they are constantly being torn to shreds. I hope they are confident and don't read the backlash. People argue if they're going to act like adults, then they can take the heat, but you shouldn't talk to any one of any age like that! I have to click off to help my stress levels when it comes to these attackers. Yes, I could put my 2 cents in, but really it wouldn't make an impact in some kids mentions. Maybe one day there will be an option to filter out hateful comments so you can stay public but not get attacked?
